Hey Mike, do you do anything special to your Balsa Pro’s / Ichicban Minnows? What do you look for in these baits?

This is top secret information.  Now, first you are going to have to split a minnow in two.  You will have to drill out the lead in the rear of the bait to get the correct flotation when at rest in the water.  The correct flotation is about 30-40 degrees. 

Put your Ichiban Minnows in the water and see what angle that are at.  They are not very consistent in the angle they float at, so you need to drill out the lead weight in the rear a little at a time until you get the correct angle.

Cast the bait out and make sure that it starts walking right away.  When you have the correct angle the bait will walk right away.  Be sure to use Samurai braided line.  This line floats.  Mono and fluorocarbon sink and pull the nose down.

Out of ten minnows, three are usually good out of the box.
