How heavy of a rod do you need to fish frogs anyways...??? Do you really need a quote on quote "broomstick"...???

I remember fishing frogs on the delta for the first time in the summer and I had a bobbys perfect frog in black/yellow with 50lb braid on a 7' MH Carrot Stick. The original orange E21 carrot stick is not a "true" MH by most bass rod standards. Its more like a Medium and is pretty parabolic and soft.

We were fishing in the white's slough area around 12 noon and My brother decided to pick up the carrot stick with the bobbys frog and threw it out on a BIG MAT that was thick and "cheesy".

5 twitches later...I hear a BIG "Cappppoooooooooosssshhhhhh, my brother screaming "got one" and braid screaming threw the guides like crazy!!! I look over at my brother and the medium power carrot stick is bent over like CRAZY!!! I honestly thought it was going to break under all that weight of the nasty matted cheesy Salad and the fish!!!

He finally got the fish to the boat and I went to grab it. We weighed it and it turned out to be a 4lb'er only.

Haha...LOL =). I guess you really don't need a "broomstick"!!! A soft medium is pretty sufficient.

Luckily it wasn't a 10lber!!! I think the carrot stick would of BROKE if it was a 8lber or more!!!
