I got a chance to see the rods lunkerpunker throws them on... those things are sweet, the white python has been a "holy grail" rod for me since it came out

Honestly if anyone from black dog is reading this you should get with a rod manufacturer and build a very specific rod for the bait because I don't think I've seen a more common thread among the forums.

I know dobyns is coming out with a mag topwater rod, but maybe a blackdog collaboration with someone

Then go for the rod that was made just for the punkers! A Dobyns 795SBMT was made just for the punkers and other big topwater. Alot of the people were using the Dobyns 795ML for a punker rod and they loved it. But there was one complaint. The handle was too long and was hitting their sides, fore arm, or elbow. Gary heard the anglers and acted on it and shortend the butt of rod kept the blank of the rod the same as the Mike Long version and now we have the 795SBMT(Swimbait/Mag Topwater) The new rods of this should be in soon, if you ask me it will be worth the wait! (BTW I am on the Dobyns Rods Pro-Staff)

The Dobyn's mag-top was one of the rods not available to see at ISE and per the people working the show, unknown when it was going to show up. Anyone have some info on when it will actually show up?

It was there on Saturday and Sunday of the Sac ISE Show. I am not 100% sure on when the rod is supposed to be in and I dont want to miss quote the date of expected arrival. I am sure another staffer will see this thread and let you know.

They are coming in on the first shippment of rods. Which means you should be able to buy one in February some time at your local dealer!

Yes, my boat is still high and dry and will be for a while. I dont have any of the new rods yet, but am anxiously waiting for their arrival!
