Greg, You would be surprised what software version most people are running. Not really a big deal unless you want to use the new maps. I just updated my graphs so I know the process.

I'm certain the files are loaded properly on my card. Getting them on there is not quite rocket science, and believe me, I know rocket science.

I'm not woried about the files on the card so much as the unit not even knowing the card is there. The graph not working properly at 5 years old is nothing aginst Lowrance, but the two times waiting for 40 minutes on hold, and them giving crackhead info when I finally got someone, and losing all my waypoints because of said crackhead information has me kind of miffed.

Sounds like you got it as you are a rocket scientist.
BTW I didn't see any recognition of the card when I loaded the file wrong on my second update. It just didn't start executing the update.

hey revrat this might be a stupid question, once you installed the card did you go in to the menu setting and set it to read your card and not the preloaded stuff from lowrance. on my 520c you have to go in and select the card youve installed and it will then read it as far as saying the card is in there it dosent but a little memory card will flash in the bottom right hand corner

hope that helps though im sure youve been down that road

The software update will automatically install. what gps puck are you running? 2000? It needs updates also. But that should not matter.
Was the unit off when you installed the sd card?

I have the LGC2000 GPS antenna, and I tried to get the updates for that, and I can get them on the card, but the unit won't read the card to let me install the those updates. The sonar updates should load automatically, but I get zero response from the unit regardless of whether I load the card before or after powering up. Also when I go to browse the files on the MMC card while it's installed, the unit does not see a card even installed, much less the files to select from.

I'm gonna try to call them again next week and see if they can walk me through it, even though I'm 100% certain I'm doing the right stuff. Failing that, I hope they can get it in, and fixed in a decent timeframe.....but I'm not hopeful of that after hearing the recent horror stories of them losing stuff and taking forever to turn units around.

Mine did the same thing. Next time you call Lowarnce ask them for an update card to use. You give them a cc #thay send it to you put it in, turn it on, its an auto update, turn it off take the card out turn it back on should be a done deal. Send it back to lowarnce. You need two cards one for the GPS that you do first and one for your unit you do 2nd. Its not that hard just a pain.Since you have not had good luck with them so far you might try Linda Colt she was off for a while but might be back now.Linda Colt. Good luck LEN
