Default Evinrude etec maintenance

Need some benchmark info; I'm up for my 3 year/300 hours service on my Evinrude etec 250. What should it cost for service? I'm getting quotes of $429 to $450. The dealer where I bought my Ranger is asking $600. Sounds a little high.

All places claim oil, impeller, spark plugs, filters, lower oil change, etc.

Where would you get your service done? any reputable places in SF bay area or outside of it?

Thanks.....

I am close to needing the same BUT here is an interesting observation. While fishing Clear Lake last year I found a new rock pile, the hard way which required my insurance company to get involved.

What I learned was even though we have the "3 year, no maintanence required" program, my lower unit oil was burned. My point is it should have been treated like any other motor brand and changed in a more reasonable time frame.

I second Marine Unlimited. Their new shop is farther from Lakeport but still worth the trip. Call Brant, they are an advitiser here.

If you read the "fine print" it says no dealer scheduled maintenance for three years...."Under normal operating conditions". This is a very general statement and from what I've been told nothing is normal about the way tournament fishermen operate their boats

It's probably best to do it every 100 hours on the motor. Don't do it every year unless you've put more than 100 hours on it in that year. The days on the calender have nothing to do with the fluids and filters on your motor. Only the hours the motor was used. It kills me to see people taking their cars in for service because it's been 3 months since their last service but they've only driven 1,500 miles

I don't care what type of engine you run, waiting 3 years to have your dealer do routine maintenance is crazy! No knock on you at all, I'm referring to the manufacturers claim.
