Default Lowrance 510C problem

I just bought a demo 510C unit and had it installed on my bow. I ran it in the river and it seemed fine. But when I fish the lakes, where it's a lot deeper. The unit continues to loose bottom contact ... Now I am using a older transducer (blue connector) that I was using for my x100c. But I thought all the same color transducers were the same. I also tried to reset the factory settings using the menu selection and I'm still getting the same problem.

Anyone out there knows what's wrong?! Please let me know. Thanks.

Have you tried turning up the sensitivity? If you have to turn that up above a normal setting, I would suspect you have a bad transducer. I run two X15MT units and have had that same problem and the new transducer fixed it both times.

Al,

I thought about that first. But why would it work on the Delta and not on the lakes??

I have played with the sensitivity a lot ... going from 100% down to 60% even. However, someone else suggested to me today to increase the ping rate. I'm not sure what it is at this time, but I'll check and adjust to see if that helps.

I suppose that a new transducer is cheaper than a new sonar unit!
