Question about guys that wear a jersey

I know some of the PAID pros wear a jersey and it makes a lot of sense as this is how they take care of there sponsor. I have always thought of a sponsor as someone that PAYS you to promote for them and I agree with promoting them with a jersey. I know a guy that spent $100.00 + on a jersey and he saves himself about $50.00 per year on some of his tackle. I watched a video the other day about the 10% guys and about pissed myself.

I am not trying to bash anyone but I ask if your not getting paid what other reasons do you have for wearing a jersey to tournaments?

I will also ask if you think that your jersey has helped to promote your sponsor?

This is a very trendy sport. Same goes for wrapped boats. Started with the old school jumpsuits with patches on them and moved to vests.

It's your (their) money and they can do what ever they want with it. The company benefits from free advertising. Plus, some companies have incentive programs that require that you wear their gear-Ranger cup.

I had this very same conversation with a friend last week. He asked me if he should pay for a jersey. My reply was it's your money!

You are assuming that everyone that wears a jersey is sponsored by the company that he is promoting on the jersey. Some wear them because they are self employed and are promoting them self.
You do not see some one with a jersey walking downtown. But it is acceptable to wear a jersey and promote yourself in a Bass Tournament, and get a right off from your taxes for doing it.
