My New Drop Shot Rig

Here is a Drop Shot Rig I have come up with. Where I use to place my SPRO Power Swivel was above my hook about two feet I now put it on the hook with a split ring. This keeps my line from twisting and prevented me from reeling up the swivel into the eye of my rod. One last thing – you know how when a small fish hit your Drop Shot rig and messed everything up – with my rig it does not happen anymore. I place the SPRO Swivel on the Split ring first, then I set up the hook and the hook will stay right in the split of the Split ring because the eye of the hook is to small to mover over both wires of the split ring.

feeding the hook on the main line b4 tying on the swivle ,so that the hook rests on top of the swivle, works well too.hook spins free around the line .reducing twist and allowing good action

Good idea – did not think of that. Do you think the eye of the hook wares on the knot of the line making it weaker?

Boy you guys got me all confussed! I thought the idea was, floro line, hook direct to the line, hide everything from the fish so he could not see anything? Now you got swivels, split rings and all right there with the bait. Why even use floro line and light line. To confussing for me I guess?

Always through flourocarbon on you Alabama rig. Lol. Looks like a great idea for pre tied rigs too.

I haven't put it to use a whole lot so dunno. Haven't drop shotted much this year. forgot to add a key point. if fising vertical deep you prob need a bobber stopper a bit up the line. the times i did use it I was casting in shallower water and like the seperation/ lag i got from the bait coming away from the swivel and slowly sinking back to it w00t

You know what stops line twist on a drop shot rod is a 681 Powell casting rod. Other than fall baits, tubes ECT. I use a really light baitcasters with a mg or core reel. I can throw a 16th ounce dart head on a 4" worm just as far and more accurate. I am so sick of spinning rod nightmare's right now I would love to just get all light baitcasters.
