Default Doybns Rods New 867 Swimbait Rod "Really Guy's an Awesome Rod"

Just received my new Dobyns Rods and want to share about the New 867 Swimbait rod.
First look, just another Swimbait rod.
First cast with a 8" HUD, Wow!
Launched it with very little effort.
Handled it like a DD22.
Long Handle slid under the arm brings the reel in for a nice and easy retrieve.
For 8'6" very light and comfortable.
Really nice rod!
I am ready for the Swimbait bite this fall!
Good job to the Dobyns crew for another Great rod!!

This rod is by far the best swimbait rod Ive used. It handles the 8" hudd's with ease. This rod definitaly eliminates those tired backs and shoulders from throwing the big baits all day. Super light and doesnt have the feel of the conventional swimbait rods which are like using broomsticks. Also the new 908 swimbait rod is another great rod to add to the arsenal if you like throwing those 8" + swimbaits. This rod handles the 12" baits great and is also easy on the body if you choose to throw the big bait all day. Gary and the crew did an excelent job with these rods.

Sounds like a great rod but to long for tournament fishing. Max is 8' in the tournaments I fish.

That rule needs to be changed.

Not all have the 8ft rule . I really think these rods were made for best preformance and not the 8ft rule . I myself would like the rules changed but I'm sure it will stay .

Thanks guys. The 8' rule is so out dated. It was made for boat on boat draws and Tule dippin'....in today's world guys simply pitch. A guy can pitch farther than any tule dippin' stick. Most guys do not even know why this rule exists.

Thanks for cudos on new stick!!

I couldn't agree more about the 867 being the best swimbait rod on the market for guys who spend serious time throwing big baits. It seemed like we had to wait forever for them to get released, but it was absolutely worth the wait because they took enough time to get it right. I've had mine about six weeks and I'm still expanding the list of baits this stick will throw effectively. The other night I was throwing a 3:16 Wake Jr. and the amount of water I was able to cover was awesome. I'm not a tourney guy, so I have no worries regarding the length. I will tell you that extra length = unmatched casting distance. With many baits I'm covering 25-30% more water with each cast and I'm not shoving my eyebrows together and flaring my nostrils to do it. Right now I have a Curado 301 on it and I have a Calcutta D 401 on order that I think will be the perfect match when it arrives.
I'm betting the 867 will quickly become the best selling Dobyns swimbait rod.

There are places you cannot pitch to but you can reach a long rod in and drop a bait back there..

But does that matter if everyone has access to a long rod?
