Default A year later.....

So it has been about one year since the A-Rig's arrival on the scene. Since we all were weighing in on it the lets hear you impressions and opinion's one year later. Has it had the impact people claimed it would? Are all tournaments being won on it? Should it be banned? Lets hear the real peoples voice!!

My own personal opinion is it should be banned.

Haven't heard of them being used or sold much. Pretty much a springtime bait, right?

The A-rig has been around for decades, the castable A-rig introduced by Mann's via Pual Elias tournament win, has been very controversial with many states regulating the number of lures an umbrella rig can legally have. There was a world record inland water stripe bass disallowed by both Arkansas and the IGFA because it was caught on a "A-rig".
A rigs are difficult to cast, easy to troll, so my guess is they will continue to be a factor as main stream anglers learn how to use them.

I'd say they are more of a fall bait than anything else. I'm sure guys are already killing it on A-rigs. I'm just getting mine out. I have not thrown one for months.

They are no harder to cast than a swimbait.

Just like every other big hyped up bait or system. These baits/rigs are money during certain times of the year and rather inaffective the rest. This rig that will "Win all the tournaments for any boob on the water with NO skill" talk seem to have disappeared and so has the controversy there was last winter.

What is enjoyable to know as well is down on my home waters, NO derbies were won on the A-Rig...pretty silly with all this talk.

I'm waiting for the next tool to be released and see the same old crap start right back up!

John; the rig is here and is here to stay, just as is the Buzzbait, crankbait, spinnerbait, swimbait and so on. The hipe looks to be dead, as it always does with all new products; weather it be power pole, Side finder/down finder, Huddleston, KVD 2.5 or A-Rig. Just like all baits, it has and will have it's time and place to be used. (Still a good bait though)!
