Default Forrest wood cup for west coast angler

Did I hear K.B. on ultimate bass correctly the other weekend when he said "winner of points race from the western everstart series is invited to the Forest Wood Cup". I don't remember this happening in the previous years? Maybe I'm wrong. Anyways if it is the case that is too cool for the winner @ the end of the year. Would love to see a west coast ass whoopin layed on the Boys back east from a nor cal local. Especially televised!

Anyone else hear this or know the facts? Just curious.

When the National Guard circuit was out here they took the top 20 to a fish off where they could compete against 20 Eastern anglers to fish the Forrest Wood Cup. Later they allowed the top 10 in points to automatically qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup. All the while they had championships for the Everstarts where the top finishing angler from each region qualified for the Forrest Wood Cup. I thought that was the best route for the Everstarts. Later they changed it to only the winner of the Everstart Championship qualified for the Forrest Wood Cup. Now, yes the AOY from each region qualifies for the Cup.
