Default My first big win.

After nearly selling my boat because of lack of use( coaching my son nearly year round in all sports) I took baseball off to fish & not deal with crazy parents. Entering this Chamber Commerce tourney (formerly Holder Ford), I was on a roll with a Wednesday night tourney win, an 11th out of 80 at BBT Berryessa with Stock, a 3rd with Alex C at the 130 boat FPT Clearlake & a 3rd with OPS Louie at the Lake Sonoma Marine Unlimited tourney. This event I teamed up with Brian Bailey. He placed 2nd above me at the FPT clear lake fishing within visual distance of my 3rd place spot. Brian is known for throwing the big baits so I thought we complimented each other because I was catching them cranking. As well as a technique I will not disclose at this time.
Day 1
I was feeling like crap from either a flu virus or some mild food poisoning but we were fishing in my boat and i was to excited to not fish. Besides, I am not a quitter. Launching nearly last, 107 of 120 boats, Luckily my spot with in the area was not occupied. It wasn't wide open but we had our limit cranking by 10am and then culled up with more crankbait fish, swimbait fish and the secret technique while moving around the area that Brian knew well. We weighed in close to 27lbs and were sitting in 13th place after day one.
Day 2
With me feeling better, we launched towards the front and got our spot first. After losing a "Giant" I thought it was a snag until it swirled, we soon surrounded by 15-20 boats. Missing the opportunity to catch fish before the crowd. But soon it was on. We put on a clinic. Within an hour we had a swim & crank fish limit of 29lbs and were culling. While no boat around us landed a fish. Soon most boats left and only a few boats remained. We worked the mile stretch of water again culling to our eventual 33.87 Bag.
We were the first flight out so the first to weigh in. Our 2 day total was 60.69 Leading!!
With weighing in first meant we had to watch all the leaders weigh in and a the 5 bag limits. Not a fan of this. I don't like to wish bad things/results for anyone, I would prefer to come in last and see if we had enough to win. But it was what it was. And we won!! A true team effort.
I hope everybody has the opportunity to win a big tournament.
Pretty cool feeling.

Default record bee lives on

Congrats to Mike and Brian for fishing and finishing so strong, not just another team tourney but a Clear Lake tradition and a win sought after by countless anglers for so many years, always a great event, well done guys......I still give Leogrande an A for effort !
