Revo s problems
I bought 6 Revo S reels at the same time one by one they are falling apart, Literally, the first one a cast was made and then the spool is in the bottom of the drink along with the side plate . I had a Revo skeleton in my hand. Then I was cranking a bank and another Revo S started to sound like it had a turbo in it with all the whining it was doin'. It looks like the guide that the line guide slides on pulls out and then grinds the gears when it goes the other way. Any one else have any problems?

Re: Revo s problems
O have seen and heard of the side plate coming off..It hasn't happened to me yet, but I check the knurl screw holding it in place several times a day to make sure it is tight..As for the other problem, I have no idea what could possibly be the problem..I have two Revos and ahve so far experience no problems other than trying to set the centrifugal brakes..Me an my bumble fingers just can't seem to do it right..

Re: Revo s problems
I have 5 of them and no problems.......like every other Abu I've bought in the last 30 years. Just because the reel is new out of the box, doesn't mean it's ready to perform. Sometimes you find a screw or a nut that isn't completely tight. I saw that happen to a Daiwa 153HST. The sideplate and all the guts into the clear waters of Taylor Slough.

Re: Revo s problems
Okay! I'm a huge Revo fan. When they came out I sold my Curados and bought 9 Revo S models. They are all falling apart! I've since bought 5 Revo SX models and they're way nice and problem free.
I haven't had the side plate fall off. I service my reels more than anyone I know. However, the line guide on the worm gear has came out of a couple. The most common problem i've had is the centrifugal brake "star" cracking and coming apart. Also, the brakes themselves will not stay locked in the off position.
I'm working on getting them fixed through Berkely and selling them off. I'll be replacing them with the SX models. I don't think i'll ever buy a reel without an external brake. Haven't had a problem with my Inshore model yet and it's got the same brake.

Re: Revo s problems
Revo's suck. I bought 4 or 5 of them last year after only using curado's forever. Back to the shim's for me.

Re: Revo s problems
Sorry but Revos definitely do not suck in my opinion. Only the S model. Spend the extra 50 dollars a real and buy the SX model. Silky smooth, strong and dependable drag and they cast a country mile.
