AC/WRL at McClure yesterday
Went out with 71 other boats and braved the chill. Great day on the lake. Ended up 26th out of 72. Only .61lbs out of the money. Just couldnt cull out our smallest fish. First place won over 3K so a great payout! Met some great people! Cant wait for next one at Tulloch. Its gona be tight with 72 boats on that pond!
Tried out a new rod I built. 8' 3/4-3oz. Split grip. Glad I used it! I had a 200E5 Curado on it with 65lb braid as im mainly going to use it for the delta and clear lake for punching but I added a 6ft leader of 15lb Floro on it and tied on a jig. Very sensitive could feel all kinds of rocks at 40+ feet. I got nailed by a LM and it took me into a large branch and got wrapped up in it. Man it took everything I had to bring up that branch thought I lost the fish. When it got to the surface there was the fish and my jig wrapped up in a large **** heavy branch. Turned out to be our largest fish. **** glad I had braid and heavy Floro with a good rod with hella backbone.
