Default Minn Kota VS Motorguide

Phil Burgess posted on another site a question, does the hole pattern on a Fortrex mount match a motorguide gator mount the answer is yes.
In some cases you have to take the right side cover off the fortrex mount there is another set of pre drilled holes that will match up.
I would have answered Phil's question on the other site but I couldn't log on

If your going from the motorguide to fortrex, you might want to rethink.
The Fortrex' suck. they are on recall. Just Ask Tom about his waving Fortrex.

Yes the bolt pattern is the same.
Sorry BMX the Fortrex is not on recall. The first ones that came out were having problems and they corrected that. If you bought one of the first ones a letter was sent to the dealer telling them they need to replace the base. But in most cases the selling dealing didn't take names to contact them. A letter was also sent to the people that bought the units and registered them telling them to take it to an authorized service center to have it repaired. I have most of the parts in stock to repair them and to upgrade your present unit to a Fortrex mount. So if you buy a new Fortrex and want to use your Max Pro as a back up I can modify it for about a $120.00 bucks.
Don't get me wrong I'm a Motorguide man but the Fortrex are very good units

Sounds like a recall to me.
But joking aside, I am a MinnKota owner and previous owner of Motor Guide and they both are good. We should be lucky to have such a great shop in the area that tackles these random problems that "just happen" at the worst times. recall or no recall.... Props to the Hook!

Motor Guide all the way for me and the Minn.Kota is harder to back up the foot petal is clumsy to me, I like the steel pedal on the MG, I do give props to the gas assist on the Minns it's good down and up..my preference is for Motor Guide tho just don't get the built in transducers they sometimes leak and suck.. plus 1 to good service knowledge and factory support lets not forget Jay Liu in Redding.
