LA GRANGE, Ca - For anyone looking to catch a double-digit bass while competing in some fierce competition, you need look no further than this weekend’s Future Pro Tour Lake McClure event.
Central valley anglers will be competing this weekend in what will be the tour’s third stop of the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour 2010 season, on a huge sierra foothills lake that most know is just chocked full of big quality spotted bass. Paul Cox and Rudy Linn, anglers from the Modesto area are leading the points race by the narrowest of margins and have plans to widen the gap after this contest is completed.
“We have to concentrate on the fish and not worry about who is behind us in the points, what the bite was like last week, or what other anglers are doing,” stated Paul, a customer service representative at C&C Marine of Modesto. “Our goal is to widen our lead as we head into the upcoming delta swing events,” he added.
And Paul has every reason to be concerned about holding fast to he an Rudy’s points lead as they know the season is quickly approaching the midway point, which means that they and other competitors will come that much closer to perhaps winning the coveted FPT Angler of the Year title and perhaps becoming crowned the 2010 NAVIONICS Cup Champions, titles that carry with them limited sponsorships from major product manufactures. And for those that won’t be fortunate enough to win one of these prestigious titles, the primary focus for sure will be securing one of the berths into the 2010 Future Pro Tour Classic, to be held in early November on Lake Camanche and the California Delta, where over $85,000 in cash and prizes (that includes a new Ranger Boat and a Toyota Tundra) will be awarded to a limited field of qualifying anglers.
For those of you wishing to participate in this weekend’s event you can pre-register for it this Friday night at C&C Marine in Modesto (209) 526-4120 from 4-6pm, where we will have pro-support staff on-hand to provide tips on how to fish Lake McClure in the late spring. While you are there, take a look at the great selection of tackle and Ranger Boats that C&C Marine has in stock. After you look at, sit in, and drool over these marvels of engineering, you should then sit down and talk to the general sales manager Richard Antenucci about some of the great deals and outstanding financing they are offering at this time.
For those of your that can’t make it Friday night, late registration will be available the morning of the event starting at 4am in front of the general store at Barrett’s Cove with limited memberships of just $5 per angler available for those that wish to exercise that option.
So on to McClure and the “Mother lode Run”….you know it's going to be fun!
See you all there!
