Default Swim Baits- I am really late so help me get this party started!

I have avoided the rush to join the Swim Bait party for a couple of reasons, the cost of the baits (I am thinking Huds) and the general discussion regarding how to fish a swimbait usually says that you have to commit all day to fishing these baits (or for really long periods) with the expectation being "I am only fishing for 5 bites"

I guess I am more of the instant gratification type, or maybe a little too cheap to huck a bait that costs $30.00 and up. So with all that said and the hope that spring will be here eventualy what type (brand and color) would you recommend for fishing the Delta and Clear Lake.

Baitsmith in Shad. Or Hippo tackle 7" hollow body in Pearl are the only swimbaits I have used at Clearlake. Both worked. The hippos are like oversized basstrix and are around 10.00 for 3

Baitsmith,Osprey and Mission Fish are all killer on Clear Lake and mostly cost under 30 bucks except if you get some of the bigger Baitsmith's I am not sure on the cost of those.

You might want to get yourself some River to Sea bottom walkers in various sizes. They are inexpensive and will put some good fish in the boat at Clear Lake. After you gain some confidence, try experimenting with some of the others. Good luck.
