Default Seat belts in boats

I seen this topic on the other site. As someone that grew up in a drag boat family I can tell you NO SEAT BELT is best.

But they turn over a lot. These guys make Gary Dobyns look like Jed Clampett.

Those little single outboar5d hydros are F1 boats. They lower inn the water to make those crazy tight turns then lift to get speed in the straights. boats. There starts are even better. There is a guy holding on to the rear of the boats waist high in the water to keep the boat in place till they blast off. The prop is only a foot or so from them.

Dont know if anyone has seen the cigarettes and the big cats with the enclosed canopies. If you have did you notice the scuba regulator hanging close to where there heads would be? These guys are strapped in with harnesses. At 150+ mph you really dont want to be loose in that cockpit.

There was one boat that was designed a ways back. It was a cat with two cockpits. The canopies were F16 canopies. One on each side.

So one of those I guess "F" Boats come up the Delta about 10 yrs ago. Week prior it was in the News about it doing 150+ miles an hour. Single Canopy with Helicoptor engines installed....Guy that owned the boat was from Richmond and kept the boat docked around their somewhere. I was at Fay Island in front of the houses when he came up, stopped there 100ft from me and turned around....Load son of a Bitsh

Mike ,
I don't think it would be a bad idea at all, after all how many bass boats actually flip. I know it's possible and does happen, but I think they would help more than they would hurt. Being thrown from the boat due to rough conditions or bad decisions poses more of a threat than flipping in my book. Maybe a release mechanism once the boat flips would be a thought.

Mike,
I think what you meant to say was, because of how they are built they are less likely to flip unlike some other squirrely boats at higher speeds. Thats ok Mike I knew what you meant... One day you will be in a Ranger, don't fight it anymore just give in to your dreams and make them a reality

You are funny and yes if they stop making the champion I will buy a ranger. They are great boats . I was joking about the speed of a ranger . But now that you have brought it up speed is very relevant. There are lots of boats that can stay upright at low speed. 65 mph is not fast . When you have boats that can run 75 to 80+ they can fly. Those are the boats that can land on their lid. The boats my family had were very unstable with lots of horse power . They weighed about half as much as my bassboat with 800+hp and two speed trany . It could fly away at anytime. Bassboats are like sportscars to me . I will always respect the speed in boats and never wear a seatbelt . Boats do flip and when they do you will not know which way is up when everything stops. A good lifejacket will save your life not a seatbelt
