Default Jig Fishing...???

I'm still new to jig fishing so bare with me.

As of now....I throw FOOTBALL HEAD JIGS ONLY...anywhere and everywhere.

I understand they are good for rocky slopes, points, ledges and banks. And that is where I get most of my football jig fish.

But I also throw these jigs into shallow grassy coves because thats all I have at the time. I get hung up a lot. I lose a lot of football jigs in these shallow coves with grassy bottoms.

I am confused as to what kind of jig I should buy for these shallow grassy coves.

Should I go with a casting jig, flipping jig or grass jig?

Thanks for the help.

something with a more pronounced bullet shaped head will get you thru most grass effectively

Give our Shakey Jigs a try, they stand up with most plastic trailers.
Our plastics float, these were designed for floating plastics

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Swim Jig (no blade). Dirty Jigs makes one with a good stout hook for less than 10 ft of water. D&M Custom Baits makes a Jackpot Flipping jig that has a unique head and you can get them in 1 1/4 oz. I use these to slow roll like you would a swimbait in deeper water. Use a curly tail grub or worm or creature or even a paddle tail swimbait as a trailer.

+1 on the D&M Jigs and also check out the Pepper Jigs Pro Model, it is a real pronounced bullet head and is great in and around the weeds, combine that with the D&M Flipping Craw as a trailer and hold on!!!

My PB LM and SM came on Pepper Jig, PB Spot came on the D&M so you cant go wrong!!!

The simple way is peg a bullet weight or Owner Sled-Head and T-rig the soft platsic worm or creature when fishing weeds.
There are some great grass jigs that have hidden eye hooks that cover the line knot; if you are a serious weed angler.
The Poision Tail style jig head also works OK in moderate weeds, brush, rocks and maybe a better all around jig for you.

@oldschool:

Yeah I was thinking about it for a couple days.........and TOTALLY FORGOT about a Texas Rig for shallow grassy coves instead of a jig.

Thanks everyone for the great info.
