The bite has been tougher than normal lately. With a major algae issue and no real shad bite, you are going to have to fish 35' and deeper. The typical C-Rigs, worms, etc is working. Color not that important. If you don't go there that much, stop by Last Chance Tackle next to the lake and Matt, Dan, or Megan will dial you in. Their shop is badass! Try throwing a jig as well and I wouldn't be surprised if you get a swim bait fish too. I'm fishing the National Bass derby tomorrow and will give you a report.

Good luck,
Brian

Hi there, the bite was BRUTAL. It took 18lbs to win but that catch included an 8lb'er. Many really good DVL sticks weren't able to bring in limits which is very rare. I would wait a few weeks to let those fish figure out what they are going to do before making the drive.

You will be fine as long as the boat is clean and dry. Don't forget to put your finger in the drain plug to look for water, buy your ice at the lake, and lower the engine and spin the prop.

Don't even stress. You will be fine! Good luck out there!

Major algae bloom going on right now. The lake opens at 6AM. Toss a swimbait for the first 1/2 hour or so. From there, plan on fishing 40 - 60 feet with a jig, c-rig, or dropshot. I spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday and it's really tough out there. Good luck though. Fish SLOW!
