Default Using birds to find fish

Does anyone really do this? What types of birds should I be looking for?

I do for sure. I look for western grebes when I am on a shad pattern and a Pie billed grebe when the fish are on crawfish.

yes...if you are looking for the Big Spait spoon bite then look for grebes working shad and you will surely find the fish underneath working hard!

I look mainly for diving pelicans right in the surf zone- oops that's for sea bass- my bad. A group of ospreys diving, then clenching trout in their talons can be a good sign at Casitas if you like a punker or some other large swimming bait.

When throwing that big swimbait at Casitas, you may get your bait snatched by the Osprey too. I wouldn't want to try and take a swimbait away from one of those bad boys......OUCH
