Morris if you want to call it whining fine but if we from Bakersfield do not voice our opinion we will continue to fish lakes far from home. I think the rumor was started to get this area interested in thinking we might have a home lake Regional Tournament. I also think if Isabella would have been picked there would be alot more whining sorry (Opinions). Like Mike said you guys are missing out on a great lake in July. For years it would take 20+ to 30+ to win Isabella in July. What lake produces that weight in July during the day?
One more thing no matter where you have the Regional Randy will make it to Clear Lake
and take our money. So lets move on and get ready for Lopez! XOXO

I am sorry some of you are upset... However, I never once "started a rumor" to help participation. Had I done that maybe the so cal lakes would be a little more full. When people asked - I mentioned 4 lakes Isabella, Lopez, Piru and Santa Margarita - and always said.... we HAVE NOT decided yet.

Bakersfield to Arroyo Grande (2 Hours 31 minutes)
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Bake...589699&2v=CITY

No offense to many of the anglers - but, Isabella would be owned by the at least 7 guys from Bakersfield making it a great choice for them - but, not a "neutral" choice. Lopez on the other hand has no group of favorites by any means. Isabella can be a very dangerous lake - and yes there are donkeys in that lake but, no matter how you slice it that lake is owned by a select few. It would be a great place for HBC 7!!! So with "neutrality and safety our #1 and #1A concerns Isabella didn't make as much sense as Lopez - sorry.

Tell me who the favorites are at Lopez? In my best guestimate it would be Lintner (not qualified yet) and McAbee and guess what - they'd be favorites on any lake we go to. Lopez may not be neutral in location - but, as for the fishing it is as neutral as I could find in the area. I wish the area had a big bear - where nobody fishes - that we could have used for the regional.... I searched and searched and couldn't find anything big enough - good enough fishing with that sort of neutrality.

Lastly - and this was the least important thing for making this choice but, it was a small factor. Our two highest drawing events in the 2 southern regions are Cachuma and Nacimiento - so it appears there are more anglers from that area in our event. I never checked the zip codes to get an accurate count - but, as I mentioned before this was a super small factor in our choice.

Hope to see you all there - the best 10 anglers will move on to the Championship and be guaranteed $1000.

So Anarchy (and yes I know who you are) - there are paybacks. Imagine this - Pay $118 - Get top 10 of 18 at Castaic - then get 10th out of 40 at the regionals and you get $1000 (that is 8+ times your entry for getting 10th twice in small fields! Plus you have a shot at over $20,000 more in payback again with only 40 anglers - show me those odds anywhere!!

Hey Tom-welcome to the world of the tournament director . Wait until you have ran over 150 events, you get so punch dunk it doesn't bother you as much.

Great job with the CBC.

See you at Naci (and maybe Pyramid).

Bill

Hey Bill - I expected it but, there have been a few that I really didn't expect... what can you do?

I am definitely questioning why anyone runs tournaments - except maybe for the profit in it. It's definitely not worth it to break even like we will by the end of the year. Here we are running this thing to bring the angling world something different and we hoped exciting.... uuhhhhhhh

Thanks for the kind words Bill - I appreciate it and coming from one of the best TD's anywhere it means a lot!

Look at the cost vs. pay back. every tourney. cost 118 plus fuel and pre fishing time, time off work, equals $500 in most standards.that's for one regular tourney.double that to go to the regional that's a $1000 there for both tournaments.now ad going to clear lake so that
equals around $1700 to $2000. the concept for the tourney is great
but you need payback at each tournament to off set the cost

Morris -there are 20 of those events every weekend... ABA, Won Bass, AC, NBW etc... if that's how you feel then those are the best options for you.

However, if you want a shot at being the State Champion and $20k... spend the $118

If I have my way (and I am only 1/3 of the ownership) there will never be local paybacks. Why? For 1 reason - there is different strategy in fishing for top 10 vs. fishing to win!

The one way I would consider paybacks is if all the top 10 make the same amount of $$$... however, I am again only 1/3 of the ownership. We will address this at our next meeting.

Why 2 screennames?
