Default New to SoCal bassing looking for advice

Hi All,
I have just moved to San Diego from South Africa.
In SA I was a keen bass angler mainly shore and float tube. The folks at scbbbc.com referred me here.
I have been trying to find some local waters to fish in, Murray, Hodges, Poway etc. come up while searching.
Also some of the others N of here ie. Casita, Isabella etc.

Are there other smaller private farm dams accessible to the public?

If any of you are heading out to one of the local dams I would be keen to join you to learn the ropes on your waters. My tackle is still in the shipping container on the way here from South Africa but I would not mind joining you as a spectator in the mean time. Maybe I'll even buy an outfit to tide me over!!

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to California. We do have a few members way down south, hopefully they can help you out. If you have any questions about Casitas, Castaic, Piru or Pyramid feel free to fire away. Most of the lakes around you have decent fishing from the shore or you can rent a boat and go exploring.

In the mean time in would love to hear from any members in the SD area about fishing spots worth visiting.

Angler Marine sponsors bass fishing seminars with good speakers each month in the San Diego area; contact Rick Grover, 714/666.2628
The San Diego Bassmasters club would also be a good resource for you. Google "San Diego area bass lakes", lots of info on city and county bass lakes available to you.
Welcome to CA, good luck with your fishing.

Pow Way and Mirmar are nice little lakes that you can float tube in and hold some big bass. Man I havent fished down there in years... San Diego the hot color use to be a long worm that was BROWN with a BLUE blood line....similiar to Blue Crawler made by robo it was a must have.

Give me a shout ([email protected]) and we;ll see iffn our schedules work. You can have a back seat on the Champion and I'll take you out on El Capitan sometime in the next few weeks.

If you are looking for tackle shops in the area:

Fishermans Outpost - Poway
Anglers Marine - Lakeside

SDFISH.com is the local San Diego fishing web site. San Diego Bassmasters IS the club to be in. They currently have a waiting list for boaters and non-boaters.
