Lake Sonoma - 10-04-11
Yesterday I had a very, very memorable day on Lake Sonoma in Northern California.
I decided to take Tuesday off at the last minute due to the forecasted stormy weather for Wednesday.
My timing paid off BIG TIME yesterday.
I caught the two huge largemouth bass on consecutive casts, a 6lb-5oz and a 7lb-4oz. This in and of itself is very memorable however the interesting part of this fish tale is how I caught the bigger 7lb-4oz fish.
Sometimes we forget just how voracious the largemouth bass is - then they remind you.
The 6lb bass absolutely hammered my crankbait, I landed that fish and then a few casts later I hooked a small 6"-8" bass on the crankbait and as I'm bringing that fish in, about 10' from the boat, the 7lb bass decided he wanted to eat the small fish and my crankbait and just inhaled it all. It was amazing to see this and made this catch one of the most memorable ones so far in my fishing career.
I doubt I’ll ever top this – but I will certainly try.
The fish were released unharmed after posing for photos and a few videos.
