Whats up with the Delta
This has been the strangest year I have seen on the Delta in 20 years. The dock talk is the spraying has hurt the Delta, I can't argue that it has or hasn't. What I do know is the weather has played a large roll in the bite on the Delta.
For instance we didn't see the wave of spawners this year, it was one here and one there. Franks Track is not the same because of the lack of weeds (caused by the spraying) but it hasn't killed the fish. The bait fish has moved out and the bass has followed it. The wind has been terrible and the water has been very muddy.
And know believe it or not we have another spawn going on. For those of you that like to fish Taylor it's happening. There are fish on the bank nesting. You have to watch out for the BI people some of them don't like you fishing for their pets.
The weather has calmed down a bit, "not near as bad as the Columbia River".
If you are drop shotting you might want to down size your fluorocarbon line to 6 or 8 pound test, the water is very clear in most areas. There is a very good buzz bait and Rico bite in the morning, hit your banks that are shaded and have grass lines on them. MS Slammers have been working very well fishing parallel to the weed lines. The frog bite is turning on just in time for the Snag proof open. Currently there is know one good place to fish the Delta the bite is about the same all over, but if you didn't get your spawning fish earlier this year you might want to try them know.
