Spent all day (7:15 to almost 5:00) on Berryessa. Pretty windless for the most part but fair breeze by the dam. Water temp about 50 to 53. Water was stained but not bad (until you get into Putah which is creamed coffee about 100 yds or so after the bridge). Got a few smallies in the narrows but the most productive was on the west side between Markley cove and the dam. Again, smallies, on watermelon/red flake hula grubs on 1/2 oz. football jigs. Spoke with a really nice guy in a blue Nitro who was knocking off Spots in the same area with crankbaits. They seem to be clumping at varied depths. Groups of fish at 80 ft, then 40 ft and a few at 20 ft. Where there's one there's more. Most fish in the 1/1/2 to 3 lb range. Some day soon I'll find out where the bigger fish are in that lake. Only bad part of the day was three
punks who decided to run their boat between us and the shore (about 30-40 ft away) at full speed. Still, let it go and enjoyed the day.
