Delta fishing as of 2/20/2010
ABA had 40 boats on Sat. There was a 12lb plus and an11lb plus weighed in and a lot of fish over 5lbs.
The 11 was caught on a lip less crank bait. Most of the fish weighed in were very dark in color and a lot of them had beat up tails.
The next 30 to 45 days should be a feed fest on the Delta. The main river is the dirtiest part of the water system. There is a lot of clear water and stained water. At the beginning of the month the tournaments were being won out of the Marinas now the fish are starting to move into other areas. High income and high out going tides seem to be the best bite. Your dark colored spinner baits, Yamamoto Senks, Robo straight and fat 6"worms in MMIII, Prizim Craw and Red Crawler are working well. The LV500 in Spring Craw and Chart/Shad colors are doing well. Water is around 54 to 56 degrees there is some a lot warmer in the back of sloughs and in some of the dead end shallow Marinas.
The next tournament on the Delta is Feb. 28th and it should be exciting. It is the Hook Line and Sinker. We will be at Russo's Marina at 5:00 am for registration.
