I was interviewed by ESPN. They were asking me questions about how I thought the Elite guys would catch their fish. I thought for sure KVD would be the guy to beat.
The LV500's are working very well (spring craw and chart/shad) the weather has backed these fish off but only to the deep ledges or to structure look for current as well. The fish that have committed have moved into the grass and a shallow diving crank bait (BDS1) in the same colors and Ghost minnow ticking the tops of the grass will catch a lot of fish. The water has turned very muddy in Sherman and Big Break and the temp has dropped a lot it is Kind of slow that far out west. Franks track is not as bad look for the off shore weed beds in Franks.
Black and Blue jigs are catching good fish as well. Here's a new twist for some of you others may already know or have tried this but it is working. Take a Paycheck skirt with a 3/8oz or 1/2oz weight and a Mad Dog
Craw as a trailor hang on.
Down south is getting a lot of attention this week. Italian slough, Victoria, Mildred and Disco Bay. The water is clearer and warmer.
I really thought KVD would have been stronger after the first day. The bite he had at the classic is similar to some areas on the Delta right know.
And yes there is a drop shot bite but it doesn't seem to be catching the size of fish the other baits are.
