The bite has truly openned up. You can pick what type of fishing you want to do. There are post spawn, pre spawn and bed fish right know. I was on the camera boat with Justin from Anglers West TV Yesterday and saw it all, we were filming the WCB Pro AM.
For the most part the water has a ugly brown color and I mean brown not mud it looked like sewage water. We saw people throwing swim baits, spinner baits, drop shotting and many other techniques. The Leader Mike is throwing senkos wacky rigged and drop shotting. He was keying in on transitional fish. Parrolling the bank and throwing to the outside of the weed bed in water about 6 to 10 feet deep with current.
The second place pro Wayne B. is sight fishing using a drop shot and a small grub in dead end areas. Wayne was also fishing in Franks Track with spinner baits.
The bite got much better for everyone when the tide turned and started to come in it got better as the tide got higher.
Colors of choice for drop shot are Robo worm MMIII, Sexy Shad, Red Crawler and Oxblood with red flake.
Senkos are Black Blue Flake, Blake Red Flake, #208 #301
spinner bait colors are Chart/Blue and Chart/white.
My personel opinon because of the up and down in the weather we will have spawning fish through April and maybe into May.
We saw many people catch fish on jigs and a few on Zara Spooks. The fish seem to be more cogragated then I have seen them in the past.
