First Hook Tournament
Last Sunday was the first Hook Tournament of the 2010/2011 year.
We had 143 anglers (73 boats) and all but 8 boats weighed in. Top weight was a little over 25lbs. followed by a 21lb limit for second. It took 14.46 to get a check.
There were over 350 fish weighed in and the average weight per fish was just a little over 3lbs. Big fish was 10.46lbs caught on a 1/4 oz spinner bait!
The top five places caught their fish about the same way.
The bite has changed with the hot weather.
Primary baits were spinning baits, crank baits, senkos, and some punching.
Colors on the spinner baits were chart/white, chart., black/blue and chart/blue.
Crank baits were red craw patterns and the senkos were 208, 330, 297, and 301 most all in the 6in and 7in size.
Primary pattern was paralelling the bank with weed lines the bait had to be within inches of the weed line to be bit, if it was to far away they will not come out of the grass.
The punch bait was a D&M 5.0 maddog in watermelon/red color and black/blue color. A lot of fish were caught in the Franks Track area and in the middle delta. The best bite was at a low out going and low incoming tide, water temp is still around the 70 degrees and most of the Delta is very clear.
