BETHEL ISLAND, Ca. – Its Delta time! And for those anglers fishing the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour, who consider themselves “power fishermen”, a time to get a little payback for having to struggle behind those “finesse anglers” that have stacked up points on the deep-water, spotted bass fisheries which have comprised the first three venues of the 2011 season.
But the fourth event of the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour season, dubbed “Rollin on the River” will initiate a change in the competition paradigm, and kick off a string of venues on the California Delta, that will do much to help build the skill sets - and the confidence levels, of many of the tour’s amateur-level competitors .
And this Friday, June 10th, beginning at 4:00pm at the Hook, Line and Sinker store in Oakley, FPT anglers will have every chance at success as the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour will host its annual “Delta Pre-fish Expo” the evening prior to the event at the most comprehensive tackle store on the delta.
Anybody that knows, will quickly tell you that the bite in June on the California Delta can be either a grand or grievous affair, as the tidal fluctuations on this ever-changing river system can challenge even the most experienced of competitors. But ultimately, the key to success on the river will come down to one thing:
Just how prepared are you to meet the challenges the delta will present?
And this “Delta Pre-Fish Expo” is designed to do just that – help those in need, identify the challenges ahead, and get prepared for competition on a body of water that many consider to be the best bass fishery in the county.
Present at this year’s Expo, will be some of the best bass pros in the west, who will be prepared to share with anyone that asks, some of the secrets it took many of them a lifetime to learn.
The format for the Expo will be unique in that these FPT pro-support staff members will not be presenting information in the traditional “stand-up lecture” style, but rather, each pro will be stationed at their own individual table and provide detailed information regarding their preferred delta bait, which areas of the delta they find most productive, tips on how to “read and run the tides”, and much, much more!
So if you are thinking about throwing a frog bait...go see the pro-support staff member standing behind the frog bait table. Want to know exactly how the "punching" technique works and how to rig a punch skirt effectively?....head over to the “punching” table and talk with Bub Tosh of Paycheck Baits and get squared away on that technique. Want to know the particulars about flippin big jigs fished next to delta tules?...then head on over to the jig booth and visit top delta pro Ken Mah who will be stationed at the jig table. You get the idea.
Much like dining at your favorite smorgasbord, YOU will get to pick and choose exactly what YOU want to learn about, which is sure to help make you more successful during the next day’s event.
All are welcome to attend this “Delta Pre-fish Expo” event – even if you don’t fish FPT events and free food and cold drinks will be served to those in attendance, plus there will be a FREE raffle for great prizes.
