We have all been in the same boat about this time of year, over half way through the tournament schedule and it seems all your doing is fishing tournaments or pre-fishing for tournaments. Here is a couple of things that will help you get out of the tournament funk.
First off, get away from tournament waters. Get a map, find a lake and go fishing, not in tournament prep, not for a turkey shoot, go just for fun. Use this time on the water for the reason you started fishing, to relax and have fun. Next thing you can do it take your children or wife out with you. Leave the partner at home and go have a good day on the water. We get so caught up in the tournaments that we may sometime forget that the most important people in our lives want to enjoy those moments with us as well. And last but not least. Take a weekend off. I know most of us go stir crazy if we have not been on the water in days much least a week. But take the time off, clear your head and again relax. A relaxed fisherman is a better fisherman. That is why you always did better when you were out fun fishing than you do on tournament days. So take some time for yourself, relax and enjoy it all. Life is to short to always be caught up in something as insignificant as a fishing tournament.
And I know we often get so in the zone with our fishing that we forget the simple things. So when its hot as
out there be sure to use your sun screen and drink lots of water. These things may not save your life but could help to prevent problems down the road!!
