Default LCX-17M and hot spots chip

Hey Ken,
I think it was you I ran into at Jack yesterday and i forgot to ask you a question. So i have an LCX-17M on my boat and i picked up a fishing hot spots chip. Every time i insert the chip it seams like it doesnt want to work. It starts to load and then freezes up. What could be the problem?

The Hot Spots chip is too big for the older x17 to run. The older units don't have the processor speed and capability to run the larger map chips we have now days. You have to remember the 17 was a current unit probably 10 years ago even though you may have purchased it from a dealer who had it on his shelf for a few years. I would look for an LCX 25 or 27 to replace the x17 to get close to current technology.
Yes, it was me at Jack in the Box on Sunday. I was headed back to the casino for the awards for the WON BASS Pro/Am
