Another record field WON BASS Casitas 2/8

Another record setting field of 28 teams turned out for the 2nd tournament of the season for the WON BASS 2014 "Casitas Region" teams. Not to be outdone by their turnout of 27 teams at the season opener the WON BASS "Casitas Crew" showed up in record numbers Saturday pushing the number to a total of 55 teams that have fished in the first two events of the 2014 season. Not to be intimidated the team of David Mesa and his son David Mesa Junior went to work and sat the boat down on one spot and fished the entire day without moving. When the dust had cleared they had caught a five bass limit weighing 21.90 pounds and captured victory amongst this monster field. David Mesa Junior explained to the gallery how they went to work with a jigging spoon in 35 feet of water following schools of threadfin shad. There consistent bag of bass brought them the championship trophies and $2010 in cash for their efforts. In second place was a team of Bill Griffith and Chris DeMoor as they hoisted a five bass limit weighing 20.68 pounds onto the scales and collected $930 in cash and beautiful plaques presented by WON BASS. In third place was the current 'Casitas Region" Anglers of the Year for the 2014 season Brian Evans and Matt Newman as they lay down a 20.13 pound bag of bass and collected $580 in cash for their days work. In fourth place was insurance superstar Ken Vanderburg and his partner Jeff Larson as they calmly put together an 18.69 pound bag of bass and collecting $180 in cash. In fifth place was the man with so much personality he does not even need a partner. Dave Wilson a Lake Casitas regular put together a 16.24 pound bag of bass all by himself and slid into 5th place and collected $165 in cash. The next tournament on the WON BASS 'Casitas Region' tournament trail is March 1, 2014.
