dinklimit How heavy of a rod do you need to fish frogs anyways...??? Do you really need a quote on quote "broomstick"...???

I remember fishing frogs on the delta for the first time in the summer and I had a bobbys perfect frog in black/yellow with 50lb braid on a 7' MH Carrot Stick. The original orange E21 carrot stick is not a "true" MH by most bass rod standards. Its more like a Medium and is pretty parabolic and soft.

We were fishing in the white's slough area around 12 noon and My brother decided to pick up the carrot stick with the bobbys frog and threw it out on a BIG MAT that was thick and "cheesy".

5 twitches later...I hear a BIG "Cappppoooooooooosssshhhhhh, my brother screaming "got one" and braid screaming threw the guides like crazy!!! I look over at my brother and the medium power carrot stick is bent over like CRAZY!!! I honestly thought it was going to break under all that weight of the nasty matted cheesy Salad and the fish!!!

He finally got the fish to the boat and I went to grab it. We weighed it and it turned out to be a 4lb'er only.

Haha...LOL =). I guess you really don't need a "broomstick"!!! A soft medium is pretty sufficient.

Luckily it wasn't a 10lber!!! I think the carrot stick would of BROKE if it was a 8lber or more!!!

dinklimit Can I get a gear rundown plz...??? Die hard Daiwa fan here. Can not wait for the new zillion rods and reels to come out.

A better picture would be good too. Its way too blurry.

Gearing up for the Frog Tournament

The Frog Tournament is one of the events that I get excited about every year. It's an opportunity for two Southern California anglers to drive the 6 hours on I5 to the CA Delta and test our frog skills against the best. How many times do anglers get to go out for six hours and through a frog all day. The dreams of a monster blowing up on my frog has me ready to make the long haul up to Northern California.
The excitement is continuing to build as we are only a week before the tournament. All my Daiwa Tatula Frog rods and reels are rigged with 70 pound braid and my favorite color frogs. There are light colors for open water and dark colors for the mats.

I've been studying the Navionic Web App looking at all my favorite frog spots where I've caught them before. Only time can tell if the fish Gods will shine on us as yet another Frog Tournament is upon us. What makes this year's event even more special is that I get to break in my 2015 Ranger Z520c on the Delta. I can't think of a better place to put the first hours on my Mercury 250ProXS.
