I'm going to go and have a good time. I'm sure no one will be doing shady business. Personally I don't care if people never put on there life vests thats there choice I won't be involved.
Lets just show up fish and have fun, hopefully catch a couple nice ones and get some kind of payback.

Hey doorman, just go and have alot of fun, trust me the bulk of the guys you meet out there are loads of fun and not whiners, every sport has got them and tourny fishing has got its share, all & all most of the guys are great, just go and have a good time, besides I've been so beat up this year I'm in traction rite now!

Come on now...any given angler can win on any given day. I've seen guy who fish for the first time and win and then others that put years into winning. I for one had to take my bumps and bruises to get into the scene but if I hadn't fished derbies I wouldn't have gotten to a point on consistant top finishes.
everyone has to start somewhere... anyone that has money can fish...thats always part of life!
if the scene is too watered down then maybe you just aren't into winning a decent paycheck

I dont fish them (only the saltys).....just point of view.......you are correct everyone starts somewhere.....but the circuits are already spread to thin.....just sayin it is broken and needs an overhaul...there are so many people at so many different levels or aspects that it needs to be redistributed...an order....otherwise it is a mess....and that is what i tend to see, same local winners...
...there are not to many decent payouts...cuz they are spread thin.....cut half the circuits in the state and the true tourny guys will still fish them and the payouts and competion will be much improved...thus catapolting the best anglers to the next and top level....that was the point at least
not pilage the bottom feeders and tell them they are gaining valuble experience....local pro's on their own body of water with more money and time are gonna dominate...yes a blind squirrle will find a nut.....just not often enough to allow blind squirrles to reproduce other blind squirrles...thats why some org's have gone with the 1 BIG fish format.....allows for some LUCK....which is simply the result of some GOOD decision makin.
Dont get me confused with someone who thinks they belong in those things cuz I dont.......I could compete but at the end of the day too many obsticals to overcome and would never win....that is why I stick to makin baits and havin fun...
....just my 2 cents....but the sport is growing rapidly....I saw 5 skiffs at San Clemente Island.....unheard of....it use to be crazy if you even saw 1

WE all have gotten are bumps and bruises.From years of tournament fishing and its all good. That's what makes us a better fisherman from learning from that. The rise to the top and to fall to the bottom. And the MOST PART IS A LOT OF PEOPLE FORGOT TO HAVE FUN WHILE FISHIN.

ya ok........just dont cheat aint gonna work........right... so that is why the freshy seen is a scene.......the top % of people want to win badly as well so bring on all the guys who are gonna donate so we can take your $$$$$$$$$....then get pissed when some guy crosses YOUR bank.....gets too close to you.... ect.....it aint new blood...same old blood..week after week and it aint gettin any better......
it is america...and yes you can fish a tourney if you want...however too many should not be....tourny circuit is watered down.......just think most should go back to doin it for fun
only so many guys can make $$$ at the local level everyone else is paying them........

im not bangin on anybody just assesing the problem....too many egos... not enough money......but someone has to be the Kansas City Royals.....and the rest of us just laugh.......cuz the royals will never win again .....but they got the jack to stick around
and the rest of the league will be fine taking them to the woodshed day in and day out........get rid of the Royals and the quality of the league is immediatly upgraded...addition by subtraction

Do I believe that people shouldn't fish tournaments because they in reality aren't good enough............ no!
If that was the case then who is to say who is good enough. We all fish them to have a good time and I am happy if I can just cover my expenses.
Pearlswimbait, they already have what you are talkin about its called FLW and BASS.
You don't go fishing tournaments to make money, it just ain't going to happen unless you are fishing the big leagues and have a money sponsor
Bottom line is that we are not fishing against each other we are fishing against a little green (or brown) fish with the brain size of you pinky finger nail and runs on instinct. They don't care how good you think you are, anybody can win any tournament or do well in them!
I agree with RDYTOGO all the way. If you have to cheat at this it ain't worth doing. What is the sense in that. " I won but I had to cheat to do it!"
