Thanks for all the good info. I've been running around 9' of leader material, just enough so that the knot doesn't get on the spool. Casting through guides is pretty much what I'm after with this setup and I assume it's a big part of my problem, don't see any way around it for clear water applications. Anyhow, looks like a swivel is out, thanks for saving me the headache!

As for twist in the spinning reel try to close your bail by hand and not by reeling the reel.

I have been using this setup the past few years and it helps eliminate line twist almost 100 % i use power pro 20# and a 6-8 # p-line floro leader. my leader from swivel to hook is about 18"-2 ft and another 12-18" of dropshot leader length below it. All ends are tied with Palomar knot. I haven't had any problems and just landed a 6+ fish this past weekend on it. I have accidentally reeled the tiny swivel through the eyelet but i dont reccomend ever casting the swivel through it. I bought mine at Walton's Pond in the East Bay area.

The only two cures I have found is #1 super glue the knot, #2 melt the tag ends after you cut them.

If it's slipping then you need to leave your floro tag long enough to tie an improved clinch knot and then it wont slip. I find that using 6-8lb floro and slick braid needs the locking knot. I like the seagaur knot better

Another thought - I saw a version of the albright knot where you tie a double loop knot at the end. Never did it but maybe that will help the albright know stay stuck?

I have been using the uni to uni knot for this specific application and really haven't had a problem. I have even landed 12-13 lb cats using this set up: 20 lb braid with 6 lb flouro leader. I was using Suffix braid which doesn't have a coating. I have never fished that brand you are using? I tried the swivel deal before and I didn't like it. I guess it might work for a very short leader. I wouldn't trust it through the guides.

The newer knot the Slim Beauty and Uni to Uni have worked to perfection for me. Is your braid so thin its cutting your fluoro? If you're using a fluoro leader there's no real reason to use light fluoro is there? My knots stopped breaking when I stopped using Vanish.

I got horrible line twist when using a 2500 to 3000 size reel. I switched up to a larger spool 4000 and it really helped (If you are talking spinning reels)

Braid to flouro with a swivel?

Been messing around with braid to flouro on my spinning reels this winter. Using 15# samurai to 6 or 8# Seaguar. So far, I've worked up two problems that are a real pain in the arse, first is twist. I've heard braid isn't supposed to twist but apparently I've found a way around this and when it happens I'm pretty much hosed as thin as the braid is. Second is the joiner knot. Been using the albright knot which works pretty good for a while but then "unravels" on me. I haven't broken at the knot, but after about an hour or two the damned thing just unwinds and comes apart. Tried a "J" knot, uni to uni, Seaguar knot and a few others, none seemed as strong and impact resistant as the albright. So I'm considering going to a very small swivel to join the lines. Any thoughts? How does the swivel come through ceramic guides and will it damage them? How will it affect sink rate of light baits? Will it put a weird bow in the line at the swivel?
