That is what I am saying John. Thanks. I do agree the rod makers are in a quandry. Just like the dollar menu at the fast food joint. You do it for so long it doesnt matter how much you lose. You owe us a burger for a buck. Gonna be tough for the first rod company to drop the warranty. Done right it may be a boon. Look at those non-lifetime discount Dobyns deals. Any left? I have only sent one rod back for replacement. A Fenwick about 15 years ago. I have a Powell Shakeyhead that I broke the tip on (like everybody else) over a year ago. Never sent it back. I should.

Re: Is this guy an idiot or what!

I think you guys are confused.. I dont mean to speak for Robert, but what i gathered from what he said had nothing to do with a "right or wrong" way to return a rod. He is trying to point out the fact that if people were not so "care free" with their rods that rod returns would go down drastically. If rod returns go down drastically they dont have to factor in the replacement cost into the MSRP, therefore lowering the price for everyone. I think eliminating/ restricting the paramoters of returns would have a large affect on the customer service side of things and people wouldnt be as happy with the product and open a grander can of worms than replacing a rod.

Re: Is this guy an idiot or what!

I highly doubt that the individuals that are complaining about rod return misuse are free from sin. How many rods do you see that are rated for braid? How many of these anglers use exactly what the rod is rated for. How many tug and pull and jimmy the rod so they don't loose their $16+ bait. These same individuals that are "rod law abiding anglers" are the first to return a rod that is loaded with braid and breaks on a jarring hookset, or and attempt to free a bait. The guy who returned the stepped on rod is the real sinner though.... right?

Regardless of the return policies of rod mfg. co. the prices are / and always will be excessive, they know our the weaknesses in this sport and exploit. Also that dude is a Dip and to top it off he blames the rod. retard

U2 better start respecting my authority. Your font has a very confrontational tone and I don't appreciate it.

I too will go in to the garage and slam a few in the door. Maybe we can get a federal bailout program.
